Again, the lesson of God being the only supply. Nothing and no one can fill us and restore us, or give us purpose and strength as He can. Anything else we seek after, even in recovery, is merely a poor substitute.
In the February 8 reading of My Utmost For His Highest, the two women who sought the Lord in prayer together heard these words filling great voids in their hearts:
“I am your Lord, your supply. You must rely on me. Trust to the last, uttermost limit. Trust and be not afraid. You must depend on Divine Power only. I have not forgotten you. Your help is coming. You SHALL know and realize my power.”
There are works we are called to that can only be accomplished through HIS strength, HIS teaching, HIS equipping.
What no man can do, and what no woman can do, God can do–in and through us.
A soul surrendered to His ways can do much. Especially when that soul feels ill equipped to go where He is calling. A confident soul will rely on themselves and the outcome may be good, but a soul convinced that they can walk in His calling only through God’s equipping and strength- that is is a fertile heart God can do much more for His kingdom through. Many more will be blessed and healed through the soul relying only on the power of our Risen Savior and Lord.
God invites us into His work in the world, but we have to rely on HIM to do what is best. A self confident soul is worth less in kingdom work than a soul less sure of themselves and completely sure of their GOOD and loving and all powerful God.
I have, at times, asked God to send me to places where my natural gifts shine, yet He desires to instead shine HIS gifts through me- gifts far greater than that which I can posses on my own.
It is His way.
As Paul shared in 2 Corinthians 9, God says to us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
